Xtreamer Ultra
The Xtreamer Ultra is to all intents and purposes a mini PC comparable to the Acer Revo and it's ilk. The latest Atom processor is used with ION2 graphics providing ample power for all HD video. Full 7.1 audio is working out of the box. We are unsure about exactly what software the player will ship with but XBMC and Boxee are mentioned in the promotional blurb. Being a PC, the Ultra will be capable of full codec support and be able to access all PC on-demand content.
Creating a PC that is tailored for home media use is an age old idea. From Acer Revo to Myka ION, it has been seen before. The advantages are the versatility of a real PC, the drawbacks are the complexity. At €284 including mandatory shipping the Ultra is not cheap.

So if it is a mini-pc can one play games on it as well with a gamepad/keyboard? How well would it play COD Black Ops for example? August 17, 2011 - 05:30
dunno about cod - it is based on an intel atom d525 (1.8 dual core) + ion 2 with 512M Ram and 4GB of DDR system ram - so while it is great for media applications and basic computing - i wouldn't expect too much in terms of 3d gaming performance.... June 01, 2011 - 00:24
so i have had my ultra for 1 week now the supplied os (linux based) worked well and had lots of additional apps etc installed eg. xmbx / boxee - i set up xmbc ie. showed it my shares - it found them and so the ultra did in fact work out of the box as promised - stutter free 1080p movies it worked well - but as i have never used linux i ended up installing win 7 64 bit on an int hdd - which hums along nicely as well the hw works well - it is quiet and more than fast enough for media duties i am pleased with the value the ultra delivers - at approx 60% of the cost of a same spec locally sourced machine so i couldn't be happier the forum is also active with lots of queries - there are a few niggles - but these are being responded to by the xt company and the users - so resolutions are being found one final thing - people have also successfully installed openelec and are very happy with it - so i may explore this option as well at some stage i recommended the ultra as being worth a look at if you are considering a mini htpc May 04, 2011 - 11:13

yeah the final price is higher than initally suggested based on the price checking i have done, it still comes out at ok value ie. incl - spec ug to 1.4a, 4gb ram, bt kb, mce remote, hdmi cable, precompiled linux os and drivers on a usb stick - incl xmbc (+ wifi dongle and larger usb stick in the pre-order bundle) so if it does what it says on the box ie. plug and play xmbc i will be happy March 25, 2011 - 21:10
