Xtreamer Prodigy
Xtreamer's next generation player, based on the Realtek 1185 chipset. The new chipset provides a small performance boost, integrated flash support, USB 3.0, and Gigabit networking. On the hardware side the player now uses a slot access desktop sized 3.5" HDD and a very distinctive new case. There is still a fan although hopefully the larger case will mean it can be quieter than the mk1 Xtreamer. Netflix support is mentioned in the briefest of ways. It is not clear yet whether DTS-HD MA passthrough is supported.

Available for pre-order now, shipping in mid-Sept. with a 750Mhz Realtek 1186! (They upgraded the chipset.) May 31, 2011 - 20:21
This is what I've got yesterday from Xtreamer Sales Team. "There is no exact date for releasing the Xtreamer Prodigy." Not very promising. June 02, 2011 - 06:39
Well this page said it came out in "Release Date January 1901 " I think this is going to be very old technology and I am sure if we look harder we can find new technology. Just how I feel about it. May 18, 2011 - 19:22
An admin (not a mod) on the Xtreamer forum recently posted that they're targeting July now... May 13, 2011 - 08:37
Well, here we are in the middle of May. Any update on release date? May 16, 2011 - 09:32
In the official Forum it is said that the Prodigy will be released somewhere in Juli 2011. They are still working on the firmware. May 17, 2011 - 15:03
official word on xtreamer forum is now July. May 12, 2011 - 16:15
I agree, it seems to be more of a myth than a real product at this point of time... anyone have any info regarding its actual release? May 09, 2011 - 02:51
Will they ever release this thing in the next xy months or will it be delayed until no one want it? March 03, 2011 - 03:03
Indeed, as Elpee alludes to, this is only a good value in Europe. In American dollars, this costs the same as the NeoTV 550. More interesting, though, is the fact that the Play!On HD2 is selling online (through American websites) for roughly the same amount of money as well. March 02, 2011 - 15:14
Buy this or Netgear Neo TV 550, let say they are the same price? March 05, 2011 - 01:06
prodigy - spec and feature list is imo vastly superior - suggest you have a look in detail and spot the differences - they are significant prodigy has these features over the neo - flash based gui, web browser, int hdd up to 3tb, gigabit, usb 3.0, search function, online services - incl xlive - netflix - grooveshark - wiki, integrated jb, dvd player - incl backup fcn, and given that it's 119Euro for the Prodigy vs 150Euro for the Neo no contest February 28, 2011 - 17:11
Yet the specs at the bottom of the same page manage to omit DTS-HD MA. For the time being the specs on iboum.com page are getting left as they are. February 28, 2011 - 11:08
Its official site Prodigy states "supports DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD multi-channel lossless audio codecs with upto 7.1 CH passthrough" Athough given their past history of licensing issues with dts and the mkI might be best to double check. March 04, 2011 - 23:06
when you say their issues - i take it you mean realtek - because that's where the root cause of the problem lay for all of the rltk players of that generation... Leave a Comment
