Hey Alex, Viewsonic released a Firmware update for the VMP 73 on the Download page is provided below! April 21, 2011 - 14:05
Thanks Alex for the info, I can confirm that the latest firmware for the BriteViewCinemaTube Mini works with fine with on the Viewsonic VMP73 Get firmware from www.brite-view.com You wont be able to update from the menu, use bootstrap update method below. To upgrade put firmware on a usb stick. Unplug power cord and disconnect all usb devices. Power on and hold power button in for 10 seconds. When screen displays upgrade info, insert usb stick with 2 firmware files. NOW WAIT - DO NOT TURN OFF until upgrade is finished or you may damage your player! Wait until it restarts itself and finishes the upgrade process, takes a few minutes. Then you will have latest firmware curently April 2011 February 09, 2012 - 22:31
Do you have any idea what cind of wlan stick i need? February 15, 2012 - 21:36
Hi I've tried the bootstrap method described above but all holding onto my power button does is bring up the main page. It doesn't bring upgrade info up as you describe. Obviously I've then tried just upgrading via the sub menus using the latest brite view firmware but the player just reports that the image is damaged. Can you please clarify the bootstrap method again? February 16, 2012 - 06:43
Just a fair warning to anyone doing this upgrade: whilst the brite-view software is probably better in regard of file and HD support, the interface graphics are significantly uglier - a horrible blue background and 90's style icons. I'm currently searching for a viewsonic firmware to wind back to, if anyone has a copy please email me: Cheers. May 19, 2012 - 07:19
Actually, there is no visual difference between the original Viewsonic screens and the Briteview version... the same uninteresting BLACK background etc... I cannot say that icons are 80s style... but I spend very little time looking at the screens: what matters are the video files that one will be viewing (or not, depending on the firmware) December 21, 2010 - 14:05
Obviously, noone does, or cares to share the info. With the Viewsonic firmware none of that is possible, you MUST flash with some other firmware for a similar device (for the best simalirity, just check out the remote that device would have, if it is the same, it will do!)... Does anyone have experience with connecting external USB optical drives to vmp73 or any other realtek 1073DD device? Help and advice would be appreciated. Leave a Comment
