Capable Realtek chipset, format support No network access

Viewsonic VMP70
The Viewsonic VMP70 is the typical Realtek 1073 based Media Player, albeit without networking. In looks and specification it is identical to the Brite-View HDPrimo and everything written about that player applies equally here.

Format support and performance are good with this machine but are equally good with many others that are priced lower or have better specifications. In particular, we find it impossible to get excited about a non networked Media Player when it is priced at ~$100. There are many networked players available at this price with better external styling and user interface. Many of which use identical hardware and software.

As with other Realteks, the value this player offers will largely be determined by future firmware updates. To this end, we could find no updates at all for the VMP70. This is not a good sign!
