QNAP NMP-1000P
Updated version of the highly regarded QNAP-1000, now with the new Sigma 8643 processor. The original QNAP was perhaps the premier 8635 machine and we see signs of similar greatness here.
Build quality looks fantastic and the 1000P is feature packed. 7.1 audio, massively wide format support, and an additional high grade audio chip. Connectivity is good with 2*eSATA ports and analogue 5.1 audio out is provided. The firmware is unique to this player and, on first sight, looks good with a movie cover wall.
The big problem is the list price of $450. Expensive even compared to other high-end players like the Dunes.

The rice is not at all ridiculous: it's almost 400EUR here in Belgrade... if it works with external optical devices out of the box and reads BD disks from an external usb drive... it is still difficult to say whether it is worth that much? November 15, 2010 - 13:15
Is QNAP going to really sell this player at such a ridiculous price? Surely, they could not be serious.......brillant engineering but silly marketing! Lets see how may they eventually move. December 24, 2010 - 11:07
They are serious. And don't call them Shirley. October 02, 2010 - 12:41
It seems to be a very nice product, but I think is too expensive. Price in Italy € 329,00 Leave a Comment
