PopBox
Much anticipated player from Syabas based on the same fast Sigma 8643 chipset as used in the C-200 and A-200. The Popbox promised to break new ground when it was announced owing to the combination of the latest chipset, plentiful on-demand content (including Netflix), and a low price.
Sadly, Netflix has not materialised (or much else by the way of on-demand content). What the Popbox does have going for it is a great looking user interface and 'live' movie scraping from IMDB (as opposed to YAMJ / Zappiti).

Please integrate the new syabas player the "popbox v8" into this list. I was able to assay this player with the new chip 8671 at the IFA last weekend. the player is equally ordinary and brilliant May 23, 2011 - 10:08

I purchase the Popbox (PB) in April within a day or 2 of the announced pre-sale on Amazon. Actually, I heard about the PB just days prior to the CES show in January 2010. In essence, I have been tracking the PB for 6 months. Received the PB the week of July 18th. The bottom line: This is a very ill conceived product. Designed and implemented by shear novices. There's a myriad of little things among big things wrong with this box to indicate that the designers just don't have a clue. The UI is busted as demonstrated on a Tekzilla PB preview episode. Does not play all media types. If a media is unrecognized by the PB you get a black screen. Go no further than Amazon USA ratings for the PB. Just dismal. There is a silver lining however. Post PB I researched and came across and purchased the Nixeus Fusion HD and the kin to the Fusion the Viewsonic VMP75. Both work very well. July 22, 2010 - 13:13
