ACRyan PlayOn!HD (PV73100P+)
This page relates to the full HD-Audio capable version (Realtek 1073DD+ chipset) of the PlayOn! (ACR-PV73100P+) released in late summer 2010. There is also a 1073DD version covered here.
One of the first of the Realtek 1073 players and still one of the best specified. As usual for a Realtek, it will play a vast variety of formats very capably. Has more AV outputs than most others (digital coaxial audio, component video) and very useful side mounted USB and SD Card ports. The firmware updates and technical support offered by ACRyan have been amongst the best we've seen. The Play!On was the first to get a YAMJ (cover art) style browser and has an active forum where they accept feedback from users.
ACRyan's firmware support, and the Play!On firmware itself, have been generally superior to the other Realteks.

Been using the Playon!HD for a year now, and it has been a pleasure. The new firmware with the new GUI is a great upgrade, which not alot of companies would do, to be fair. Forum users solved any problems I encountered. 9/10 from me.

There may be a few firmware problems, but, at least for me, the playing part has no issues..

You need to revisit the reasons why you recommend this player. Maybe ACRyan provided frequent firmware releases in the past, but that is definitely not the case now. Just take a look at their forum for proof -> www.acryan.com
It's full of frustrated users (including myself) who are having to deal with bug ridden 'official' firmware that seems will never get fixed.
My advice is *not* to waste your money and look at alternatives.

Fully Agreed!!
Box has potential, but is fully frustrated by ridiculously poor firmware releases.
Stay away from this box AND Realtek chipsets in general.
