Patriot Box Office
Realtek 1073 based player. Standard set of Realtek features so has good format support and performance. Uses the most basic of Realtek interfaces, so it's not pretty to look at. Also externally unattractive. Branded by Patriot, who are a well respected memory manufacturer. Like all the Realteks, how impressive this player is will ultimately rest with the level of firmware support.
The price has come down to $90 at Amazon, making the Patriot Box Office one of the cheapest internal HDD Media Players.

This is a great little Box with a tremendous member supported forum that can and has solved the few issues that the PBO has encountered The latest firmware release from the MFG'r is P53 which seems to be the best so far - but there are 'other' firmwares available The current (US) price is $65 after rebate - and given the fact that it will play most every file/format/container you throw at it - makes it a great choice and a price range that will allow for multiple boxes to be purchased for setting up around the home I've owned one for about 5 months and plan on another soon May 29, 2010 - 14:13
