Patriot Box Office Core
Update of the original Patriot Box Office. Uses the 1073DD chipset so can downmix / pass DTS but is not capable of 7.1 audio. It uses the new Realtek SDK4, with an update also available for the older players.
On the technical side, this player is very similar to the old model.

well at least in my country this product is cheap and reliable.. with the support of community on the net and at the current price for me it's unbeatable compare to others. it got the chip but with less money, also u can mod the firmware to make it look like other media player which is far more expensive that this,,,,, February 06, 2011 - 21:21
This player is now confirmed to bitstream/passthrough Dobly TrueHD with alternate firmware. But it is still hit and miss because some earlier production units may have the 1073DD chipset and not the 1073DD C+ chipset. February 05, 2011 - 02:29
Sorry for the confusion here but it is confirmed to have the 1073DD C+ chipset with dts/MA with AVR decoding the audio. I had to tweek it a bit with another vendor's f/w. February 04, 2011 - 21:02
Apparently it is hit and miss. There are reports that some of these do have the later chipset but it looks like the one I got probably doesn't. There's still hope that it is a f/w issue where the current f/w doesn't support the current chip. Time will tell for me but it is still in the RMA period! Sorry for any consternation that this may cause. February 04, 2011 - 18:33
Thanks for the info. Specs have been updated. February 04, 2011 - 17:39
I just received this unit from newegg and would like to report that the chipset is the 1073 (not DD+) as indicated on a sticker on the mainboard and by the fact that it is downmixing dts/MA or more accuratelly only playing the dts core lossy audio and not the lossless master audio. Leave a Comment
