Novatron iamm NTD58
Very interesting new player from veteran Media Player manufacturers, Novatron. Uses the Sigma 8653 chipset, which is near identical to the 8655 used in the WDTV Live so should offer good performance.
The NTD58 is the top of the range model from Novatron and implements a 2" LCD screen and eSATA. Both are welcome additions, with the screen being particularly of note. By having a screen you can use this as a music player without having to turn on the TV. Design is reasonable if a little bricky.
We could find no availability for this device but would expect it to be rolled out globally soon. Price is as yet unknown. We are investigating and this page will get updated soon..

Why are devices that are not even available yet rated higher than existing players with a proven track record? December 09, 2009 - 09:03
We don't normally rate players until they are available and we have multiple feedback on how they perform. In the case of the two Novatrons, they are not yet officially available so we'll change the availability colour to red and remove the rating. In general though, it is possible to give a fairly robust opinion on items based on specifications and knowledge of the past performance of their constituent components. We are confident that the Novatrons will be very decent products and expect to rank them at 3* or above when they are released. Leave a Comment
