LG DP1B (DP1W with wireless)
Highly aesthetic player from LG, currently only available in continental Europe. The specs would suggest it is Sigma 865x based.
It is available in both wired network and wireless (€119) versions.

Heres the page i found on the dutch LG site [LINK]
If needed u can translate the pages to english easily using a browser toolbar such as google or bing etc...but halfway down the page if u click on the tab named 'Stuurprogramma's en software' you will see the list of firmware for the LG DP1B.
My machine was on 2010 firmware out of the box and wouldnt let me install the latest firmware until i installed ALL previous versions first.
Hope this helps some1 cause i had a major headache trying to find this firmware.

i bought the player based largely on some recommendations here. i have found, downloaded, and attempted to upgrade the firmware repeatedly (mine in still in the 2.01 series) but the player just keeps saying "no valid firmware found on this USB device". i've updated firmware on media devices before, and can't figure out what i'm doing wrong (if anything, or this player is just a lemon)

the thing is that is missing a file: LGE-VerInfo.txt
create a txt file, give exactly that name and put in it exactly this text:
on the root of the usb storage you must have these 2 files:
Make sure that two files need to be copied on the Root Directory.

Upto version 20110426V2.02.20 you have to follow USB stick firmware upgrade procedure. When 20110426V2.02.20 firmware have been installed choosing: OTHERS > Software > Next (with network already connected) the DP1W checks for updates via net! Should download and install 20110513V2.02.21 version. BR, Wojtek

Ok, i've found a firmware version for this mediaplayer. It's on the www.lg.com I've installed the new firmware and i can tell you one thing, they've corrected all the bugs. With this firmware from my point of view, this media player it's the best choice price/performance.

I've installed latest FW 20110317V2.02.19.zip (March 2011)
The thing that bothers me the most is that when I click [next] it will not go to the NEXT file (from 001.avi to 002.avi for example) but to some other file in the list (to 006 or 008, it varies). [back] has no issues and every time will go back one file.
No complaints so far. Best WiFi-HD player for the price.

tried going to 3 different LG sites from that link, and they all end up nowhere. even a search on the sites for dp1w or dp1b render zero results. what's up with that?

This product works fantastic with al the movies that i put in it. I just don't like the fact that DVD's don't have menu's but it's no big deal because i watch .mkv files. It works fine with USB. But i just bought yesterday a Lacie Network Space 2 and it works perfect in combination with that device !!

Bought this for fun since I have a PH A110 already.
What worries me the most, is that I cannot find the product on LG's supportpages, or their own website for that matter - No support for a product?
Have had the same problem as Piers with MVK files and broken sound - picture runs fine nevertheless!?
Overall - a nice try, and for first time NMT users, it's an ok buy under 100EURO

Also on IT/HU and maybe other EU LG sites. No worries they are all the same.

Has a bad problem with some MKVs that have DTS audio . . . sound is "broken up" . . . absolutely a no-go!

The Spanish LG website (rather unusually) mentions the chipset: Sigma SMP 8652.
