Realtek 1055 based with the new SDK4 user interface featuring media file indexing, searching, and sorting. The Realtek SDK4 'Casablanca' GUI is much more attractive than previous versions whilst the Realtek 1055 chipset offers comprehensive format support along with a nice boost in power from running at 500Mhz (as opposed to the older Realtek's 400Mhz).
The unit itself is well engineered and has a good remote. The user interface is very quick in operation and the player boots in less than 10 seconds. Full 7.1 channel HD-Audio is supported (both downmix+passthrough). If you can live without networking then this player does it all at a very low price.

I have had one of the media players for the best part of a year and it has done everything it is advertised to do very well. OK it doesn't have a movie jukebox and I have upgraded to supposedly better products (AC Ryan Mini 2 & Med8er 500x2 - both lasted less than a week with me) and always come back to the tried and trusted Kaiboer H1055.
Picture quality just seems that bit better than more expensive units - not sure why that is exactly, maybe I got a good 'un.
Fully featured and well laid out remote control that doesn't need multiple presses to navigate.
Solid and well built unit that doesn't overheat or reboot once you start using it - don't think I have ever crashed this player.
Just connected a 3TB Seagate GoFlex Extnernal HDD to the player and it appears to work flawlessly which is a nice bonus.
Yeah sure I would love the movie jukebox but until something comes out that isn't in beta I will quite gladly stick with this little beauty.
Just a shame it doesn't seem to be stocked now or the whole family would have got one for Xmas.

How can I buy an H1055 plus remote control? Thanks!
July 12, 2011 - 17:01
Does any one know exactly what is the fix for the remote, for the April Firmware? Thank you!
July 13, 2011 - 12:46
All it did was enable the use of an alternative remote (the one for the H1055+). It's useful if the H1055 remote interferes with your TV (some LG models have this problem.

Kaiboer H1055 It downmix the HD audios in stereo only, I’m using coaxial for audio out, while playing Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD it downmix it in stereo only, But for Dolby Digital Plus I’m getting DD 5.1 Audio. (My audio settings are in RAW)
Iv tested my friend’s Asus O!Play Mini, In that Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD it downmix to DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1, But for Dolby TrueHD I’m getting stereo only.
So in further firmware updates All HD Audios Downmix to 5.1 will be helpful, I don’t want to spend my money for an hdmi receiver for now.

The biggest problem for me is that the player doesn't know external subtitles.....
June 25, 2011 - 06:49
The player recognizes nearly all subtitle formats..
Just rename the subtitle (srt etc) file the same as the video.

Can i use hdmi for video only and connect the co-axial to my AVR for audio? ( my AVR has no hdmi
June 07, 2011 - 13:17
Yes. Audio outputs simultaneously to HDMI and either RCA or Coaxial.

which site have the latest firmware
May 31, 2011 - 12:39
The only problem with this player is....that it does not load automatically subtitles if the subtitle doesn't have the exact name as the movie.....no browsing for subs or something like this....

The H1055 I ordered from you arrived well, and I'm happy with what it can do and how it does it.
May 31, 2011 - 07:24
No audio offset settings, but repeat mode can be changed by hitting the repeat button on the remote. It cycles between something like 'repeat all', repeat one', and 'repeat off'.
May 20, 2011 - 14:48
The scenario: Ok normally the H1055 will be connected to a hi-def display via HDMI, but I would like to take it with me when visiting the parents (for the kids to watch). They have a standard definition tv with composite video input.
The question: will the H1055 downscale hi-def video to 576i PAL or would I need to recode those videos into something compatible.
And can you tell me how the H1055 handles frame rate differences. Where for example the video content is at 29.976fps and the display is 25pfs.
May 20, 2011 - 15:44
The H1055 will downscale or upscale all video to the output resolution. So there is no problem playing 1080p content over 576i PAL composite.
The second question is much more tricky and I can't give you a detailed technical answer. I presume a technique such as 3:2 pulldown is used.

What's the maximum capacity external HDD (USB host powered) that can be connected to this player?
May 20, 2011 - 07:28
2TB maximum. We have had no reports of any USB host powered HDDs not working on the H1055 through lack of power, so I presume all will work fine.

Hello, H1055 has much functionality but for the movie, it does not use the totality of the TV screen (screen plasma panasonic 102 cm)! For the internal menus it uses all the screen well but for the movie reading it leaves a band (enough broad !) on the 4 side (in top, bellow, on the right and on the left) of the screen of several cm! Do you have the solution to view a movie in full screen (1080p 60hz) ? If so, thank you to communicate it to me?
May 16, 2011 - 08:30
I believe that the border problem can be solved simply by setting the 'zoom out' setting in settings-video to 'OFF'. Hope this helps!

This looks very good price/performance against my current WD HDTV Live. However I can't find if it does 23.976Hz without the video "slip" as with the previous Realtek chips (but not apparently WD with Sigma chip and current Firmware).

I think you're right. If the Tv sound is on mute,no clicks. If the volume is 0 level I can hear them.I need a setting to mute the HDMI sound when is not being used. Thanks
April 13, 2011 - 19:58
Great machine, has played everythting i have thrown at it. Only fault is that the remote conflicts with my LG TV which was very annoying as did the Sumvision Cyclone Micro. Just turning the volume up on my tv remote stops the film that is playing. Have now connected it to my samsung TV which is fine.
April 13, 2011 - 13:55
The version of the firmware is v201010026
April 13, 2011 - 12:43
For video signal I use HDMI cable and for audio the coax to my Yamaha ampli-tuner.Every time I push the FF or FR(from4x to 32x) I hear only in the TV speakers the clik-clik sound. If the TV is on mute is OK.(but I have on the screen the mute pictogram). Thanks
April 13, 2011 - 12:48
As a way around this can you lower volume to zero? So not by pressing the mute button? This might kill TV sound without the mute image.
As to the problem, first thing I would try is to change the settings - audio - HDMI output setting to LPCM. If it's on RAW this might cause the problem you describe.
It could also be a bug, albeit not one I've heard of before and an oddity! It may have been fixed. The most recent current version of the firmware is on the futeko site. Installing this may make a difference: www.futeko.com
If none of the above helps I will pass on the report to Kaiboer and see what they can do about it. An option in the settings menu to completely mute the HDMI sound output when it's not being used would solve it.
