Ellion HMP-500 (also known as Hyundai HMP-500)
One of a series of players by Ellion based on the Realtek 1282 chipset. There are many different versions of this player with DVT-B, recording capabilities, multi HDD bays, and three different case designs. A summary of the Hyundai variations can be found here. This page is primarily about the most basic Media Player version, the Hyundai HMB-P500 or Ellion HMP-500H.
Versions include: Hyundai HMB-P500, HMB-P550, HMB-R500, HMB-R550, HMB-T600, HMB-T650, HMB-R600, HMB-R650, and Ellion HMP-500H, HMR-600H, HMR-650H.
The hardware used here is high quality with an attractive design and better than average AV connections. The massive variety of models allows you to get the features you require. The chipset is the same Realtek as in many players and offers the usual good performance.
The user interface is an unusual redesign by Ellion that is in HD and simplifies things compared to the standard Realtek version. It is the same as in the Ellion Labo 110 and we consider it an improvement. Ellion have been active in releasing firmware updates.
The Ellion / Hyundai is a very capable player that stands out owing to the vast array of options available.

Our German cousins seem to think it's possible to run Xtreamer 2.01 firmware on the Ellion. The onlt thing that doesn't work is the Ellion remote (harmony works)!.. Leave a Comment
