Anyone tried the latest firmware? Last comment here is from August looks like a new firmware came out in October 2012 with many bug fixes. Like to see some feedback on the new firmware as I'm considering getting one.

Hi Jan!
Nothing new at the moment I keep waiting. Packed it away until it updates. My main issue was it will not read drives over 2tb and buggy hd audio. My A300 via last firmware now does but now when I play some movies it freezes up half way. Going to get rid of the A300 and will wait for Dune update and if it doesn't fix will sell that too. My WDTV live gen3 although not perfect plays well has great picture and reads my usb hub with a mix of 6 1tb, 2.5tb, 2tb drives with no probs .

I am starting to get the impression that bigger brands ie WD are probably a better bet where as some of the other devices offer a flurry of tricks but don't do most of them particularly well.

Hope this helps in any way and will post my thoughts when Dune updates.

Yes thank you it was helpful!
The most important thing for me is picture quality, second
is that it plays dvd iso`s and video_ts folders, and big mkv files from 8 GB and up to 30 40 GB.
You say Western Digital has great picture, you mean as good as the dune a301 or almost And are you sure that the new a 301 has better pq than dune hd max? In that case I probably go for the a 301!
I have tried boxee whitch was cool and easy but poor picture quality on my projector, and bugs. And also the popcorn hour a-300, it had a little better picture quality but full of bugs and almost unuseable! Both are returned, very disappointing. So dune everybody says is the most stable is my choice. Just have to pick the right one.
Thank you again if you answer this too

What a waste as this has so much potential great picture quality (better than A300 and Dune Max) BUT! I am getting fed up holding on to these devices hoping for a firmware release to fix the damn BUGS...Like my PCH A300 it's going back for a full refund because it's NOT FINISHED!

I've had about 5 or 6 of these so called media players within the past couple of months and they've been CRAP! and not to mention the one's I've had further back in the past...

Hi Drew!
I was just about to buy this one. Now it`s 3 of august. Do you think there have been updates since you wrote your comment? Could you be a little more specific to what the bugs do? Thank you if you have the time to answer
Regards Jan from Norway
