The same player as the Briteview Cinematube but with the network functions removed. The underlying chipset is the now ubiquitous Realtek 1073 so this player benefits from good performance and format support. There is nothing wrong with this player, it is essentially the same as many other Realtek players but without networking and is very similar indeed to the Asus O!Play (minus the O!Play's eSATA).

The problem is that there are now many players at this sort of price with identical or better specification. For a player to stand out it has to offer something above and beyond the norm. In this respect Briteview have promised a lot in terms of firmware support but have not really delivered. Without outstanding firmware this player becomes very average and, in fact, below average since it lacks a key feature in networking that is available in similar players at this price ($99.99 MRSP).

At the Amazon price of $79.99 this player becomes an option if cost is your main factor and you are sure that you'll never require networking.
