Brite-View CinemaTube BV-5005HD
Network enabled Realtek 1073DD based player. Has the same good performance, comprehensive format support, but unattractive interface as the the other basic Realteks. Format support and performance are both very good. The 'DD' chipset gives DTS and Dolby Digital support but not the 7.1 channel lossless formats.

Buyer Beware! This player does not work with Windows Vista or Windows 7. Network feature is useless I get "Login Failed" all the time. Playback is jittery over the 100Mbps network. Dont waste your money on this garbage! October 01, 2010 - 17:12
Mine works PERFECT with Windows 7. You can create a USER Realtek_guest with the password Realtek_pws if you can't get it work with your actual user on W7. October 28, 2009 - 10:04
info from Brite-View: Hi all, more detailed information regarding the firmware that will be available soon: 1. Subtitle features: Time Sync, Color, Size, Offset; (expected to be released on Nov 6) The next firmware will include: 1. OSD UI to 720p (instead of 576i) (expected to be released in early Dec) We know these two do not fix all the problems, but I just wanted to show that we have heard your concerns and opinions especially on the GUI. Ive seen it myself in the HQ office and I will say this: it looks very simple and greatly improved. And I also want to update on the Dolby HD+ and TrueHD issue. I have confirmed that we have the Dolby HD license, but not TrueHD because of chip limitation. Others brands or media players with the same chip may claim they support Dolby TrueHD, but we do not think the audio part can be decoded by this chip correctly. Realtek is working on this, but before this issue is resolved by Realtek we will not claim that we support TrueHD. The highest level we can go is at Dolby HD+. November 09, 2009 - 22:19
So, Is realtek going to have a firmware available soon for the dolby TrueHd or not ?? Because this feature is extremely important to me and many others that have....7.1 expensive receivers. Ive tried and returned all media player that didn't support TrueHd, So again this is very very important that its made available very soon, Or I know many folks will be unhappy. Hi Briteview October 25, 2009 - 19:43
New stuff in next firmware: 1. HE-AAC audio format support In the version afterwards, you'll see 1. UI improvement (Yes!! It's happening!) This is all stuff that I think is already in Xtreamer so not very impressed. Maybe brite-view is falling behind in firmwares? September 30, 2009 - 10:08
some info. September 26, 2009 - 10:07
@BubbleBoy: The 6000P and the 5005HD are not the same device. The 6000P does not have ethernet. Currently the only way to buy the 5005HD is directly through the Briteview website. September 25, 2009 - 10:07
That Amazon store link doesn't work. Try this one. Only $90 with free shipping there. I'm jealous. September 24, 2009 - 10:07
I've read that it doesn't have Youtube XL installed anymore either. A legal problem. Leave a Comment
