ACRyan Play!On HD2
Realtek 1185 based player from ACRyan and the succesor to the popular ACRyan Play! On(+). The 1185 chipset brings Gigabit networking and a small performance boost. A 3.5" slot access HDD bay is now used. The user interface is the attractive 'Playon! GUI2.0' adaptation of Realtek SDK4 with it's file indexing and searching. ACRyan proved themselves with the previous generation to provide some of the best Media Player firmware support. Product #ACR-PV73700.
The HD2 lacks any significant on-demand content provision, and does not take adavantage (on launch) of the 1185 chipset's Flash / web-browser abilities. As such it is an incremental improvement on the previous generation, but nothing mind blowing. We would expect firmware updates to enhance capabilities through it's lifespan.

fyi - realtek have stopped development of 1185 chip so this player - like xtreamers sw2 (and any other 1185 based players) will not be recieving any further fw upgrades :/ February 08, 2012 - 00:48
i should clarify - no further official / substantial fw upgrades ie that need sdk support from realtek i see that other independent groups are still developing fw for some older products www.moservices.org (rep to tweak for pointing these guys out) - so hopefully they will do the same for the 1185 range as well.... Dear, this system is very slow so June 20, 2011 - 16:53
Doesn't detect internal 2TB WD Green HDD on boot (need to reboot from shell, via telnet session for this to happen properly), UI is slow beyond belief, won't play all FLAC files, can't seek on media streamed from uPnP media server, can't show subtitles for media streamed from uPnP server, UI hangs when displaying copy progress from USB although copy process completes (need to reboot via shell, or to poweroff/on), very slow FTP transfers (6MB/sec max, have fun reading excuses about that), can't access SMB share on remote computer, which every other devices can access without problems ... simply, it's broken in its current state. Experienced all of that in first 24 hours. Wait for new firmwares and confirmations from users that bugs were fixed before buying this one. Did I mention that UI is horribly slow? In case I didn't, here it is - a note that UI is horribly slow (it's Flash based, no surprise there). Other features don't even matter, since getting most basic tasks done can drive you mad. Anyone with some user experience with this gizmo? June 06, 2011 - 10:07
I have one. Nice build quality. Current firmware is very buggy and very slow to the point of being unusable. Would not recommend it until they get a better working firmware. March 27, 2011 - 21:18
