Xtreamer
One of the first Realtek players, offering a great range of features at a previously unimaginable price. When launched in July 2009 it was incredibly cheap compared to the less powerful players that had come before. The Xtreamer was a sign of things to come, with many more cheap Realtek players following.

The Realtek chipset and firmware combination provide great performance and format support. On the hardware side the Xtreamer is small but yet manages to cram in all the major features. The biggest issues are the noisy cooling fan and a lack of 7.1 audio support.

Firmware support for the Xtreamer was always amongst the best. It did not just reply on Realtek SDK updates and instead developed it's own features. Xtreamer get a lot of flack, mostly because they present a big target. In an imperfect world (Realtek 1073/1283 world) they did better than most.

@ Tweakradje:
Hi man... Do you know if it's possible to format the hard disk inside Xtreamer with pohd r7 firmware? And if possible... How?

Thanx

gaat Tweakradje nog een aangepaste versie uitbrengen voor XT MK1?
(aangepaste amp_r7_pohd?)

Niet nodig. The r7 also runs on the Mk1. You can also flash the moservices XTPro version and then via the web interface add the pohd skin if you want.
There is only one little poweroff bug in r7 when used on the Mk1:
Change in /usr/local/etc/poweroff.sh the line
/usr/local/etc/rc.suspend
to
##/usr/local/etc/rc.suspend

rc.suspend sets the speed for tty at different speed so the last
commands for powering off the Xtreamer don't work.

----------------------------------------------------------------
#Set port speed for Xtreamer
stty -F /dev/tts/1 cs8 57600

# Fan high speed Led yellow, a signal that poweroff is initiated

echo -en '\xfe\x34\x00\xf8\xff' >/dev/tts/1
echo -en '\xfe\x41\x00\x00\xff' >/dev/tts/1

##/usr/local/etc/rc.suspend

# Wait for Dvdplayer to stop
sleep 5

# Send hardware Off/Led red (needs twice!)
echo -en '\xfe\x11\x00\xff' >/dev/tts/1
echo -en '\xfe\x11\x00\xff' >/dev/tts/1
----------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Tweakradje, Could you tell me the password for root access using ftp on xtreamer?

I asume this is the easiest way to change files inside xtreamer hdd. Is this correct or you have other suggestions?

Hi, it is /usr/local/etc.

For ftp acces (=mos module) goto web page of the streamer and edit settings of ftpd ? Anyway you can always ask here: moservices.org
I don't use ftp but Samba/Cifs for getting files from "/"

Cheers

but how you access/change files in the protected area using samba/cif?

/usr/local/etc
That's what I did!
This what I get through File Manager (Quixplorer) in Web Explorer:
"ERROR(S):
usr/local/etc: Unable to read directory."

Tried also through Samba without results... can't access...

What do you mean with protected area? The part of the firmware that is mounted with squashfs? You cannot change that. You need to unsquashfs it on a ext2 formatted usg stick or your hdd. Than change a file, rebuild the squashfs and then remount it on the player.
Andrea: I don't use that explorer. I dunno. I add a share to samba that points to "/" and then access it from a windows pc.

At the end... how can I change /usr/local/etc/poweroff.sh if I can't open it?
As you said rebuilding and remounting the firmware with the corrections?

If so I will wait for a minor update...

/usr/local/etc is writable (yaffs2 filesystem). You can share it using Samba (after adding Samba as mos service). Then you can edit it a file on /usr/local/etc from a pc.

There is new version amp_r7_pohd.zip. Someone know if this can be installed on MK1? Maybe tweakradje can tell us something.

Glad to hear swap to disk works now. I haven't upgraded yet. Will do soon after backing up my custom mos services etc. SDK3+ (have seen SDK 4.5 somewhere) need swap with 128 Mb RAM devices like the Mk1. Else they will be slow.
Best wishes for 2012, we will see what that will bring

Cheers

Thanks mickt and tweakradje for your remarks. Best wishes for 2012.
I have another question for you. When you install these firmwares on MK1 that have internal hdd installed. Which hdd format do you recomend? ntfs or ext3. Please explain your suggestion.

Create a “Resource” folder on your HDD/USB storage device and place your TrueType fonts in this folder. Goto Setup and select your font. It will be loaded during boot.

mmm... nice question!
Really don't know... I installed pohd and I'm satisfied, and 'cause I don't speak russian i can't understand what's they're talking about (of course Xt firmware but can't understand with wich features and services).
Maybe someone here can explain differencies???

Well it seems to be just a matter of skin (GUI)... R7_pohd is playon skin and R7_Xpro is xTreamer Pro skin.
