WDTV (mk2)
The new WDTV (mk2 / gen2) uses the same packaging as the original WDTV but is in fact a cut down WDTV Live, using the new Sigma 8655 chip. It also lacks the component output from the Live. The main feature addition compared to the WDTV mk1 is DTS downmix and other HD-Audio compatibilities.
The WDTV Live is priced only $20 higher than this model. We feel that unless you are on a very tight budget or are absolutely sure you will never need networking or a component output, then the Live is the better value.

Since this uses the same chipset as the Live, shouldn't WD add DVD menu support to this model as well now? Or will they simply ditch owners of this model quietly like they did with the very first one? November 24, 2009 - 16:00
Must be licensing problem or something? November 23, 2009 - 18:56
