ASUS O!Play Air HDP-R3
The same player as the Asus O!Play HDP-R1 but with added Wi-Fi and side media card ports. As with all the Realteks, format support and performance is good. DVD menus and RMVB are supported unlike the competing WDTV products. The usual Realtek criticism applies, with the interface remaining of the standard brutalist design.
This player is one of the best non-HDD Realtek players. It has a couple of unusual but beneficial features in the internal Wi-Fi and eSATA, and has wide availability from a well-known and trustworthy manufacturer. The additional features add a premium to the price of the R3 which we think is reasonable. However, if you don't need Wi-Fi then the original R1 Asus offers better value.
The established Asus brand combines with reliable Realtek performance to deliver an expensive but desirable Media Player.
