Samsung N510
One of the first Netbooks to marry an Atom CPU with the Nvidia ION graphics chip. Nvidia ION gives graphics performance far in excess of that typical in Netbooks. New applications such as gaming and HD video decoding are now possible. In reality gaming performance is hampered by the (relative to a dektop) slow CPU but HD video decoding works well. You could conceivably use this Netbook as a Media Player by connecting your TV via the HDMI port. The keyboard and build quality are both very typically Samsung, so very good. Working in tandem with the fast ION graphics is an 11.6" display with a very readable 1366*768 resolution. This resolution makes a big difference over the usual 1024*600 and we expect many more machines to use this in the future.

The rest of the Samsung N510 is the usual. Connectivity, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Atom N280, and 7 hour battery life have all been seen many times before. You'll get decent but in no way mind blowing performance. An ION allied to a faster CPU would be a more interesting proposition.

The Samsung N510 is well built and high quality, with graphics performance that is a step above most Netbooks. The screen is also fantastic and together with the ION is perhaps a forebear of things to come.
