User Rating and Ranking
The iboum website gives you the chance to rate each player on a star scale of 1-5. Anyone can vote so the results should be regarded as indicative only. We do however have procedures in place to make it as accurate as possible. For instance, a user can vote for a player only once (controlled by IP address logging).

Just looking at the user ratings is slightly useless since a lot of them are hovering near 3. It is the marginal difference between the player ratings that matters. To emphasise this we now rank the ratings and give prominence to this figure. By ranking the user ratings you get a good approximation of which players are at the top of the heap.

We give an indication of how many votes each player has received. A player's total number of votes is divided by the total votes for the most voted for player. We then convert this to a scale of 'Very Low' - 'Low' - 'Medium' - 'High' - 'Very High'. This way you can see if the high user ranking is a result of very few or a lot of votes.

You can be sure that a player with a high user ranking from a 'High' or 'Very High' number of votes is a well regarded product. Conversely, a ranking based on a 'Very Low' or 'Low' number of votes might be unfairly skewed towards the opinion of a small number of voters.

A player needs 5 votes for it to get a ranking. Players with less than 5 votes will show 'x'.
