Xtreamer 2010 Update
Interesting extracts from it include:
All this is interesting, and it's good to see some communication about the future, however there is a history of bold statements about the future from Xtreamer. Talk is cheap, as they say.
There is an emphasis throughout the article on the next few years for Media Players being stuck in the 'storage era', meaning that on-demand content will not happen in a significant way until 2011+. The tone of these statements is defensive and we can understand why. Whilst the Xtreamer Pro is essentially just an expensive Xtreamer with more storage, there loom on the horizon several potentially massive new products in the Boxee Box and the PopBox. Both these new players shift the focus onto on-demand content and will be released around the same time as the Xtreamer Pro.
We have long argued that the future of Media Players is in on-demand content (and indeed paid content) and we would put our money on this future coming around much more soon than Xtreamer think or want to admit.
One last thing, we were disappointed that we weren't mentioned at the end where they talk about alternatives to MPCClub. We've always supported the Xtreamer because it is a solid product with great firmware support. We're as objective as it gets. Come on Xtreamer, show us some love!

You help spreading false information as the inability to support DTSHD and TrueHD audio bitstream is due to faulty chip used inside Xtreamer and other products from realtek. Xtreamer just excuses that problem with stating it's all about licensing issues with their MAC Addresses. I assume all companies experience the same licensing issues then... Ubiased does mean telling and investigating the truth. They can hammer on MPC as much as they like and mention alternative forums, MPC stands on it's own and is much more trusted than many alternatives they will bring up to keep people away from the truth we tell... If you disagree, prove me wrong :-) June 22, 2010 - 19:02
@ Hi-jack, You change your opinion more often than I do my socks lol. Seriously, you have a huge ego issue which is well demonstrated in the post above by coming to a.n.other review site and basically saying that your website is better??? Are you for real? You are not known outside your very small circle of contacts and people do not hang on your every word. If I may be so bold can I ask you to investigate the issue yourself as you genuinely are clueless. Perhaps you can contact RTL directly to get it from the horses mouth? Or does your name not get you past the receptionist? Anyway - I could go on all day but I shan't sink to your level....Why on earth are you dredging up a post from February - Are you that desperate for attention?....Not that surprising mind as there is much more activity on Iboums' site than there is on yours, take some time to read the other blog posts and reviews here - you might learn something. 'Cap - Unashamedly biased & proud..... February 25, 2010 - 21:52
I think 1283xx is the same as the original Xtreamer. (They referred to the 1283 as that from day one in their official docs) It is just that only the new devices MAC addresses etc are licensed for support of True HD according to what has been said. I am not sure if new XTs will function for True HD or onlyXt Pro I also thought you would get a mention as I know they rate your site a lot (I know they read it regularly). I wonder if they were worried that people might think the site was bias if they thanked you??? I don't know... Either way I know the Xtreamer community enjoys reading your site and we are all grateful not because you give favourable reviews - but because you give accurate, detailed & interesting reviews of the entire scene and great blog posts which are always fun to read.
